Whats is Black friday?
Here’s the English translation:
Black Friday is the retail industry's big sale day — the Friday after American Thanksgiving — when stores (both online and physical) run extraordinary promotions to kick off the Christmas shopping season. In Denmark, the day gained popularity during the 2010s and is often expanded into Black Week leading up to Friday, followed by Cyber Monday.
At Weedshop, the selection and duration of the campaign vary from year to year, so keep an eye on the shop to make sure you’re ready for a great deal.
BLACK FRIDAY FAQ
When is Black Friday?
Black Friday always falls on the last Friday in November — the day after the fourth Thursday in November (Thanksgiving in the U.S.). Therefore, the exact date of Black Friday changes from year to year, but the rule never does.
Upcoming Black Friday dates:
- Black Friday 2025: Friday, November 28, 2025
- Black Friday 2026: Friday, November 27, 2026
- Black Friday 2027: Friday, November 26, 2027
- Black Friday 2028: Friday, November 24, 2028
- Black Friday 2029: Friday, November 23, 2029
- Black Friday 2030: Friday, November 29, 2030
When are Black Friday deals announced?
Deals are usually rolled out already during Black Month or Black Week, often with “early access,” “pre-access,” or early deals. They typically ramp up on Black Friday itself, with an online finale on Cyber Monday. It’s common to see daily drops, time-limited deals, and restocks along the way.
Here in our shop, the timing varies from year to year, so sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates.
Where does the name “Black Friday” come from?
The term originated in the United States and was used to describe the exceptionally busy shopping day after Thanksgiving (referring to the traffic and commercial chaos). Later, “black” also came to symbolize the point when stores moved into profit — from being “in the red” to being “in the black.”
Today, Black Friday in Denmark is used as a general term for the entire campaign period, including Black Week, Black Month, and Cyber Monday.
What’s the difference between Black Friday, Black Week, and Cyber Monday?
Black Week or Black Month:
The campaign period leading up to the main day, during which many deals are gradually released (often with daily “drops” and limited quantities). Here, you can spot Black Friday offers in advance and compare prices at your own pace.
Black Friday:
The highlight — featuring the biggest discounts. Expect high demand for popular items and categories. It pays to have your wishlist, account, and payment details ready so you can shop quickly during limited drops.
Cyber Monday:
The following Monday, typically focused on continued online deals. Some stores ramp up their digital offers, bundles, and restocks, and a few even extend it into a “Cyber Week.”
